Christian: Hey! You should come to my church with me this Sunday. I think you’d really like it.
Meaning: Hey! You should come to my church with me this Sunday. I’m hoping you’ll get saved on the first visit so I’ll look like a hero for Jesus.
*I’ve been guilty of this and I’ve witnessed friends in church inviting people and getting upset when they don’t appear to receive anything or get Jesus.*
Sad that we’ve reduced ‘sharing the gospel’ to ‘going to a building’ instead of actually demonstrating what it means to love people without an agenda.
I never had the balls to invite a friend to church (when i was in high school) because I knew it would be a joke from my friends’ perspective. Even early on, I knew there was something missing about the gospel I was taught.
